Corrieairack pass

Post  Portalrover on Tue Oct 20, 2009 5:32 pm

The H4WD Club are hosting a charity run over some of the pass on the 25th Oct - this Sunday - starting from the car park in Fort Augustus at 10am. There is a min donation of £10 to charity, and all vehicles must be road legal.
we are going up as far as the hairpins, but beyond that is impassable due to land slippage. As ever, this road is a source of great dispute, and current land owners or not of a mind to be sociable or willing to allow it as a right of vehicular way.
If you would like to join us, please meet at the car park on Sunday morning.
Cheers, Hughie

How far can you get from the Fort end? Never having been over the pass I'm not sure where the washout is, is it worth a look from the Garva end?

Unfortunately I'm already committed on Sunday, but would still like to go for a wee look one day, it's just a long way round for a shortcut to get to the far end, drive as much of the pass as possible then have to backtrack again!

Half way over the pass

Our run tomorrow will take us from Fort Augustas, up to the old weather station, which I believe is at the "hairpins". from here the track is impassable as land owners will not repair it - nor will they allow anyone else to do it !!!

So, when we return, it will be back to F.A., and not right over the top and out at the other end - sadly.

Non the less, we expect a good day, and it is in a noble cause, so come along and join in the fun ! cheers

Cheers, Hughie

By the filling station at the canal, as you say "on the right as you come in"

See you there. Cheers, Hughie
