disco 1 replacement sills

Post  ando227 on Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:42 am

as the old sills were like dust with holes holding it together i needed to get them sorted.

with the help of my mate steve at calendonian sheet metals in inverness i got some 100mm x 60mm, 3mm box section and various of cuts.

each sill is 141cm long.

did a lot of cutting away but did keep most of the original inner sill to weld too.

My welding is a little agrcultural but is effective.

they were easily jacked into place

should be plenty strong enough to take a few knocks.

Could be the way to go if your sills are rotten anyway

Aye i also got my box from calendonian sheet metal, and i took half of a great length of box that he was keeping for some1 in a discovery, now i no who that person was lol! our landrovers are closer than we think! its good steel and well priced too, very helpfull and cut the bit i wanted to size, cant fault them. ile be back sometime for alot of either channel or box or even plate for a rear xmember, to house a winch and be strong. really strong. the sliders look really good too, keep up the good work, cheers.
